The Women in Mining Committee at the conneXXion (WiM @conneXXion) led a comfort care pack drive in August in support of the TEARS Foundation. This is a non-profit organisation providing support to women and children who are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and abuse. A total of 200 care packs, containing toiletries and other useful items, were collected and donated. The comfort packs were distributed to various SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses units (FCS) across Gauteng.

Congratulations to Tanja Oosthuyzen, who was named Exxaro’s Office Professional of the Year for 2022. Juritza Kruger was runner up, while Alpetro Jacobsz claimed third place.

The Award, which aims to recognise excellence in a high performing Secretary, Personal Assistant (PA) or Executive Assistant (EA), took place at the annual Office Professional’s Seminar under the theme “Shine bright like a diamond”. The seminar welcomed all Office Professionals from the business, who were also treated to some light entertainment and lucky draws.

Guest speaker, Suezette Smit, from Performance Development Interactive encouraged the guests to keep on shining brightly, saying: “Don’t allow anyone to dim your sparkle. Those that ‘shine’ are the ones who make the difference.”

All three finalists were required to do a presentation and speech before Tanja Oosthuyzen was announced as the ultimate high performer for 2022.

The Exxaro Athletics Club put its best foot forward at this year’s Comrades Marathon, clinching one sliver and three Bill Rowen medals, along with the highest number of participants, finishers and supporters in the club’s history. The club also made a splash at the Comrades Expo, where they proudly wore their new club tracksuits. The Exxaro Athletics Club is slowly carving out a reputation in the long-distance running space, with more members and finishers added every year.
