The in-pit weighbridge was successfully implemented at Grootegeluk Mine, setting unparalleled standards for accuracy, safety, and productivity, while ushering in a new era of innovation and digital efficiency in the mining industry.
The cutting-edge in-pit weighbridge, which comes as a result of Grootegeluk’s collaboration with GSI Automation and their international partner, Transcale, has redefined the process of weighing and scanning mining trucks by providing real-time precision data on vital parameters like material density, load positioning, carry-back issues and more.
By digitally transforming this process, the weighbridge puts Exxaro at the forefront of digital operational optimisation, fortified safety protocols, and heightened overall productivity while reinforcing Exxaro’s commitment to pioneering innovations that will shape the future of the mining industry.
In celebration of this achievement, GSI Automation has chosen to donate R100 000 to three local schools – Laerskool Ellisras, Hoërskool Ellisras and Tlelelo Secondary School. This donation aligns with Exxaro’s Social Impact Strategy to support the future of education in the local communities in which we operate.
