On 7 February, Exxaro’s Leeuwpan Mine and colleagues from the conneXXion, teamed up with Swartklip Combined School in Delmas for a Wetland Clean-up Campaign. This initiative aimed to raise awareness among learners about the importance of wetlands and environmental conservation. 

As part of the campaign, learners were educated on the significance of World Wetlands Day, observed annually on 2 February, and the vital role wetlands play in water purification, biodiversity, and climate resilience. To promote sustainable waste management, Exxaro also donated dustbins to the school, encouraging learners to maintain a clean and eco-friendly environment. 

This initiative reflects Exxaro’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement, ensuring that future generations understand the importance of preserving wetlands for a sustainable world.
