MAKING OUR MINERALS & ENERGY BUSINESS THRIVE WITH FY22 RESULTS

Exxaro has a lot to be proud of. The sheer resilience of our strategy and teamwork has ensured that we deliver double-digit growth in FY22, despite a challenging operating environment, with a 41% increase in Group Revenue (R46 369 million), a 28% increase in HEPS (R60.16) and record-breaking 78% increase in EBITDA (R19 002 million).

These achievements were hard won, due to a tough global economic climate, an energy crisis and a number of other economic shocks that disrupted our supply chains, including a tough local operating environment and loadshedding blackouts.

At the results presentation Dr Nombasa Tsengwa, Exxaro CEO, applauded the sheer tenacity of all the teams on the ground,

saying “Great results don’t drive themselves but the great people of Exxaro do.”

While Dr Tsengwa was full of praise for our people, she was greatly saddened by the loss of Mathews Moanalo from Belfast Mine and took the time to not only express her condolences to his loved ones, but to reaffirm Exxaro’s commitment to “safety first” and “Khetha Ukuphepha”.

When it came to the coal business performance, which saw a 1,4% increase in production, Dr Nombasa reminded us why each of these results are hard earned saying, “We are very proud of this achievement and we once again commend the team for this performance despite the logistical constraints on our export sales, which reduced by 32%.”

Dr Nombasa closed the results presentation by thanking everyone at Exxaro for delivering such a sterling set of results and reminded us that, in the words of Nelson Mandela,

“a winner is a dreamer
who never gives up.”
