EXXARO SUPPORTS WORLD FOOD DAY
WITH ACTION AND IMPACT
Every year Exxaro joins the world in marking World Food Day on 16 October, to create awareness for those who suffer from hunger while promoting a healthy diet for all.
What is World Food Day?
World Food Day believes that food is a basic and fundamental human right and that fighting hunger requires collective action and collaboration from both public and private partners.
How is Exxaro fighting hunger?
Exxaro aligns all community initiatives with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those focused on ending hunger, achieving food security and improved nutrition, and promoting sustainable agriculture.
How did Exxaro respond to hunger during the pandemic?
In an effort to respond to the pandemic, Exxaro collaborated with other mining companies, provincial departments of health, local municipalities, the Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA) and Exxaro contractors, in both Limpopo and Mpumalanga, to help deliver food parcels and improve sanitation. The effective distribution of food parcels, in collaboration with the Department of Social Development and NGOs, helped some of the most needy families and communities.

POWERING POSSIBILITY STARTS WITH
A SUCCESSFUL CAREER EXPO

“Powering Possibility” starts with helping young learners find their career path. That’s why Exxaro Grootegeluk Coal Mine recently held the first phase of its Career Expo at Radinong Secondary School, Majadibodu High School and Mabalane Seleka Technical School.
The Expo was attended by representatives from the three Circuits (Palala North, South and Ellisras), along with Exxaro Grootegeluk (as the sponsor) and our service provider, Baaitse
Professional Services.
Twenty learners from the three circuits have been selected to write their aptitude tests with the help of our service provider, Baaitse Professional Services Psychologist.
Baaitse will also assist the young learners to choose suitable subjects and prepare them for life post Matric.
