PORTABLE SKILLS TRAINING
GIVES HOPE TO YOUTH

An excited 108 youth and five Matla employees recently graduated from Portable Skills training through Matla Coal.
“The portable skills training programme has given me hope and changed my perception about life,” said recent graduate Bonisile Zulu from Thubelihle.
With high unemployment in the area, the programme helps equip the local communities with the skills they need to better their lives and invest in their future.
The three-week training programme, which is offered by Ekurhuleni Artisan and Skills Training Centre in Kempton Park, gives participants the option to study:

Basic Electricity

Plumbing & Brick Laying

Motor Mechanic

Welding and Boilermaking

Property Maintenance
Graduation day
was a proud
moment for the
113 graduates

“22 October will go down as one of best days of my life. I wore a graduation gown and received my certificate,” said Zulu.
“We are proud to help shape the future of young people in our local communities. After all, they are the future leaders,” said Thabile Kumalo, Community Development Specialist at Exxaro’s Matla Coal.
