Exxaro’s Tip Offs Anonymous is helping to win the fight against fraud and unethical behaviour, thanks to Exxaro’s employees who reported 213 cases in 2022. Most cases were reported through the hotline, with the rest going through the Audit & Assurance Team. By the end of 2022, investigations led to 41 cases that resulted in disciplinary action and guilty verdicts, 21 employees dismissed, and many more disciplined. In some instances, criminal cases were registered with SAPS and arrests were made.

The breakdown of cases reported in 2022:

Exxaro takes cases of harassment, bullying and racism seriously.

In two sexual harassment cases, the Audit & Assurance Team were able to collate prima facie evidence against the perpetrators (Exxaro employees), who were found guilty and dismissed. The managers who did not address the matter were also dismissed.

A senior manager was accused of workplace bullying, favouritism and racism, which created a hostile working environment. The senior manager, who had a history of similar behaviour that he failed to rectify, was found incompatible during an incompatibility hearing and dismissed.
