MATLA GETS DIGITAL @ DIGITAL INDABA ROADSHOW
Matla is on a digital transformation journey, aligned to Exxaro’s Digital@Exxaro strategy, having identified digital as key to improving safety, increase productivity, creating visibility and reducing operational costs.
To unpack the journey, Matla started a weekly Digital Indaba Roadshow, which ran from 24 April until 22 May, and reached all Matla teams.
The team shared Matla’s focus for the year, which includes live visuals from underground sections, key control, shaft clearance, vehicle tracking and real time conveyor belt monitoring with the focal point for all digital activities being to support the end user to achieve targets, budget and incentives.
The digital team also explained how digital will allow support functions
to provide insights to operations and engineering, helping them achieve targets and earn well-deserved incentives.
Key focus areas for Matla’s command centre include:
Collaboration and continuous engagements and coaching sessions
Drive improvement in sections performance
Optimise production
Influence decision making
Identify risks and mitigation actions
This digital journey aligns with Matla’s culture, which is driven by change and innovation,
encouraging experimentation and risk-taking within the digital team.
