EXXARO
REINFORCES
STATUS AS A
“TOP EMPLOYER
IN SOUTH AFRICA”
Exxaro has been certified as a “Top Employer in South Africa” for 2022. This is the third time that the international Top Employers Institute has awarded Exxaro the honour, having been certified in 2014 and 2021.
The Top Employers Institute certifies organisations based on their participation and the results of its HR Best Practices Survey, which covers 20 topics from people, strategy and work environment to talent acquisition, learning, wellbeing, diversity and inclusion.
Established 30 years ago from its headquarters in the Netherlands, the Top Employers Institute has certified over 1 600 organisations in 120 regions across five continents. These certified Top Employers are recognised to be positively impacting the lives of over seven million employees globally.
Exxaro’s People Strategy provides the foundation for its approach to its employee value proposition, which is based on the co-creation of an innovative and agile work environment, which offers value-adding people solutions, while affording employees a fulfilling work experience with growth and development.
“We have always regarded our people as our greatest asset. In a world that is constantly changing, we find our values act as a guide to keep us in-touch with our employees and on track as a business.” said Balgobind.
STUDENTS
RATE EXXARO
SECOND MOST
DESIRED MINING
COMPANY TO
WORK FOR
Exxaro is named “first runner up” in the Mining and Minerals Category at the recent BP Students’ Choice Awards, which rates what companies tertiary students most want to work for.
Now in its second year, the BP Students’ Choice Awards ranks the best organisations to work for, based entirely on the opinions of university students.
Far from being just a list of top companies to work for, the Awards are accompanied by a detailed report that helps companies build a strong talent pipeline across their business. The report details the ten questions put to students, in terms of offering valuable insights into how students assess a company’s value and what they look for in their employment environments and opportunities.
Some key takeouts from this year’s
survey include:
Energy and Mining are the nineth most favoured industries among tertiary students, with Finance, Information and Communication Technologies, and Human Resources and Management taking the top three spots.
Most students prefer an environment with open and free communication between employers and employees; a casual and relaxed environment where teamwork is encouraged, and where respect and friendliness to peers and clients are key.
After key benefits like a pension fund, medical aid, paid leave, aternity/paternity, life/disability insurance, sick leave and UIF – flexible work hours and working from home are the number two and three most desired employee benefits.
