REMEMBERING THE CLASS OF 1976
REMEMBERING THE CLASS OF 1976
On Tuesday 18 June, Exxaro became a schoolground of youthful activities when colleagues and Exco
members came dressed in their old school uniforms in celebration of Youth Day, which is marked by South Africans on 16 June. From school blazers and jerseys to school dresses and even decorative matric tops, Exxaro went all out to honour the brave youth of 1976 and support the youth of tomorrow. Here are some bold and beautiful pictures from the day.

On 16 June, Belfast Mine and fifteen young beneficiaries from its Junior Pioneer Programme, celebrated Youth Day at Monte Casino. The event celebrated the skills and achievements of the young learners, who are exploring new frontiers in digitalisation and making impressive strides in coding, Virtual Reality (VR), 3D printing, and robotics.
The event included numerous activities including software introductions, climate action discussions, climate crafting, and a Design Thinking challenge, where the learners competed against various schools, guided by their coaches and assistant facilitators. Past graduates and industry leaders shared their experiences and opened the learners’ minds to the possibilities and potential that lies ahead.
The programme reflected Exxaro’s commitment to empowering the youth and foster a new generation of programmers and innovators.
“We are incredibly proud to see our learners competing against other schools with such confidence. The
progress they have made is truly commendable. Exxaro is proud of you.”
Cynthia Makhubele, Exxaro’s Stakeholder Affairs Manager
