LEEUWPAN REWARDS TOP VKLM MATRICULANTS WITH LAPTOPS

Leeuwpan Mine, a key supporter of education in the Victor Khanye Local Municipality (VKLM), was a key sponsor at the Mayoral Academic Awards Ceremony in February, where it donated ten laptops, bags and headsets to the top matric learners.

Held at Mafa Max Motloung Secondary School, the event celebrated the top achievers in VKLM for 2023. The top three students—Nqobile Mavuso (86.1%), Samukelisiwe Mali (85.6%) and Liveson Ncube (85.2%)— received these essential tools to support their future studies.

The top three best-performing learners on the day were Nqobile Mavuso from Phaphamani Secondary School with an 86.1% average, Samukelisiwe Mali from Mafa Max Motloung Secondary School with an 85.6% average, and Liveson Ncube from Swartklip combined with an 85.2% average.

The ceremony was attended by top educators, officials, and sponsors, including VKLM Mayor Mr Vusi Buda. Leeuwpan Mine continues to champion education, ensuring VKLM learners excel academically.

TO TOP MATRIC ACHIEVERS

Belfast Mine presented five laptops to top matriculants at the recent Top Achievers’ Awards ceremony, hosted by the Emakhazeni Circuit on 2 February. The region celebrated a 74% matric pass rate in 2023 compared to 69.2% in 2022.

The event is held yearly following the release of the matric results, and aims to honour matriculants who excelled academically throughout the past year. The laptop handover follows Exxaro’s year-long financial support for the circuit’s 2023 results improvement campaign.
