HOW CENNERGI
SUPPORTED EDUCATION INITIATIVES IN 2021
Cennergi supports education through its two trusts, namely the Tsitsikamma Wind Farm Trust (TWFT) and the Amakhala Emoyeni Community Fund Trust (AECFT).
In 2021, TWFT spent R5.2 million on education projects in our host communities, including:
Supporting 23 learners through its bursary programme, to the value of R1.4 million.
Identifying six ECD centres to pilot its ECD intervention programme.
Partnering with Paul Sauer High School to accommodate 67 matric learners from Qhayiyalethu FET at their hostel, while making provisions for afterschool learning services, to the value of R659 685.
Committing to paying the monthly stipends of two tutors at Qhayiyalethu FET, for a period of twelvemonths, at a cost of R168 000.
Supporting the South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA) to help learners from Qhayiyalethu FET to grasp the benefits of renewable energy technologies in a fun and engaging way.
In 2021, AECFT spent R2.7 million on education related
projects, including:

Offering full high school scholarships for 12 learners to study at Gill College (Somerset East), from Grade eight to 12, to the value of R1.8 million.
Spending over R50 000 towards disabled learner, Jozane Kitching’s, school and hostel fees, as well as much needed transport and school essentials.
Erecting a better fence to protect the children and classrooms at Cookhouse Secondary School.
Committing R3.4 million towards the construction of the new Nceduluntu ECD centre in Adelaide, after the old structure collapsed in 2017 due to a heavy thunderstorm.
