I am filled with pride following our performance at the 2024 Coal Safe Awards. Our many achievements underscore our commitment to safety and health, highlighting the remarkable efforts of every member of our team. We even received a prestigious company-wide award for being a fatality-free business with over 10 000 employees.

Pride is not the only way Exxaro supports LGBTQIA+ equity – a key pillar in Exxaro’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) strategy. The Exxaro LGBTQIA+ Queer and Allies Forum is key to this mission. 

The PIT programme offers a unique opportunity for young professionals to obtain valuable experience needed to progress in their careers. Through a structured development programme that includes courses, workshops, and hands-on training.

On Tuesday 18 June, Exxaro became a schoolground of youthful activities when colleagues and Exco
members came dressed in their old school uniforms in celebration of Youth Day, which is marked by South Africans on 16 June. 

On 6 May, Leeuwpan Mine reinforced its commitment to economic empowerment and community development with the launch of its Enterprise Supplier Development (ESD) programme at Potgieter Farm.

In celebration of Nelson Mandela’s legacy, Exxaro’s Business Unit teams rolled up their sleeves to celebrate Mandela Day on 18 July, helping to uplift and support their communities to make a meaningful impact.

In June, Grootegeluk proudly sponsored the celebration of the Mogol Parkrun’s tenth anniversary. This milestone event drew nearly 200 participants and created a vibrant, communal atmosphere.

Matla’s Business Unit (BU) Manager, Mangaliso Sethethi, hosted the mine’s first bi-annual BU Manager’s Roadshow in June. The aim of the session was to engage employees, reiterate the importance of safety in the workplace and share production performance.
